The Ultimate Travelling Playlist

Who doesn’t love some good travel music? It doesn’t really matter where we are, either driving along central Europe, travelling by bus or train and even catching a plane. Let’s be honest, everyone plays their favorite song in their head during travelling.

Pepe Housing has created a list which is dedicated to songs you must listen during travelling. My favorite song is song number #1 so make sure to give it a play.

1. Wait – M83

Wait is a song about how to deal with moving on in life. In reality, there is no point in wasting so much time crying and stressing about things that did not work out in life.

2. Thru These Tears – LANY

“Thru These Tears” comes as LANY’s first release since 2017’s LANY. According to frontman Paul Klein, the song was finished on January 29th and represents “the worst 45 days of my life.”

3. Something Just Like This – The Chainsmokers & Coldplay

“Something Just Like This” is about a relationship that doesn’t need to be superhumanly perfect, an ordinary love, a love everyone deserves like the boy on the cover art whose childhood memories are now boxed up. Coldplay are an inspiration to The Chainsmokers and working on this song together was a dream come true for them.

4. This Town – Kygo

“This Town” is an amazing track about breaking from the plateau of everyday life in order to strive for a better life. The song links up producer Kygo alongside singer-songwriter Sasha Sloan.

5. Saturn – Sleeping at Last

Saturn is a song about losing someone close and deeply loved, but it’s about the good they left behind in our lives and how to reflect that in your relationships in front of you.

6. Light – Sleeping at Last

The song is written from the perspective of the little boy from “Uneven Odds,” who is now an adult and becoming a parent himself. He has been given the gift of being the first to introduce the brightness and beauty of light to his newborn.

7. Shotgun – George Ezra

“Shotgun” is a single written and sang by the British singer-songwriter George Ezra from his 2018 album which is called Staying at Tamara’s. It was released on 23 March, 2018. The track was written by George and British songwriter Joel Pott. The song  performed really well and currently is very popular on charts worldwide, especially on the UK Singles Chart as it is ranked number 1.

The lyrics make reference to Australia and George’s experience of the country. The colours “yellow and green,” refer to the national colors of Australia.

8. Do You Ever – Seal

This song is written by Justin Parker, Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel, Trevor Charles Horn  and it is the perfect song if you just want to lay down somewhere and relax.

9. Breakeven – The Script

Breakeven” is a song about a guy who has suffered a terrible breakup with a girl. To make things even worse, she has moved on and found someone else, but the singer is still dealing with the terrible pain of her leaving him.

10. Oceans Away – A R I Z O N A

“Oceans Away” is the final track on A R I Z O N A’s debut album which is called Gallery. The song is a about dealing with how long distance is affecting a relationship.

11. Pumped up Kicks – Foster the People

The song is about a guy named Robert and he is the subject of the song, he dreams of violence towards his classmates and peers. The song details his plans and ambitions for a school shooting, diving deep into the causes of his emotions.

12. Time to Pretend – MGMT

The band wrote this song during their final year of college and the music was inspired by a praying mantis that they had in their house.

13. Bitter Sweet Symphony – The Verve

“Bitter Sweet Symphony” is perhaps the most ambitious Britpop hit of the late 90s.  You can easily listen to this song absolutely anywhere as it still very popular. It’s lyrically opaque, and it is six minutes long, but that hasn’t stopped it becoming an amazingly popular anthem.

14. Somewhere only We Know – Keane

This track is about being able to draw strength from a place or experience you’ve shared with someone. Many people can relate to this song as it is a very common feeling.

15. Sweet Disposition – The Temper Trap

This song can be easily classified as an indie anthem, “Sweet Disposition” is a song about the innocence of youth. Though there wasn’t huge success initially, renewed interest in the song was generated after it was included in the soundtrack for the offbeat romantic comedy film 500 Days of Summer .

16. Fallingforyou – The 1975

Fallingforyou is the final track on The 1975’s fourth album, which was released on May 20, 2013. This is another great song if you just want to be alone, thinking and relaxing.

17. The Scientist – Coldplay

The single itself received an international acclaim and is often retrospectively viewed as part of the group’s critical zenith. It was gold certified in America and charted in 14 countries globally. The Scientist’s music video have won the VMAS award back in 2003.

18. Hear You Me – Jimmy Eat World

This song was written and dedicated for sisters Mykel and Carli Allen, who were huge supporters of both Jimmy Eat World and Weezer. They tragically died of a car crash in 1997.

19. If You Leave – Nada Surf

This song was featured in the popular TV Show The O.C back in 2003 and this is a very calming and relaxing song, this song is perfect if you are travelling somewhere for a long time or if you just need a song for focusing maybe during a specific exam period.

20. California – Phantom Planet

Any O.C fan would love this song as it was their theme song throughout the whole TV Show.

If You Know of any other good music for travelling, feel free to comment in the comment section below. If you are coming on Erasmus in Poland and you still have not found the right place for you, Pepe Housing would be more than happy to help you find the right accommodation.
